A Drop of Pure Water

(Mother Teresa - found here)

“. . . In her view, the real place where reform was constantly needed was in the heart of each individual.

Once a journalist tried to provoke her: ‘Mother Teresa, you’re seventy now. When you die, the world will look exactly as it did before you were born. After all the effort you have made, what has changed in the world?’

Without a trace of impatience and with a winning smile she replied, ‘You know, I never wanted to change the world. I have only tried to be a drop of pure water in which God’s love can be reflected. Does that seem a small thing to you?’

As often happened, the room fell silent. No one dared say anything. Mother Teresa turned to the reporter again and said, ‘Why don’t you try, too, to be a drop of pure water? Then there would be two of us already. Are you married?’

‘Yes, Mother Teresa.’

‘Tell your wife about it, too, and then we are already three. Do you have children?’

‘Yes, three children, Mother Teresa.’

‘Then tell your children also, and then we are already six.’”
