Another Country

I’ve held nothing back
from strangers, friends & family
except the one thing
which is everything.
Somewhere deep-down inside me
there’s a white chapel
in a dark-green forest.

And I, in a loud, raucous room
of unaimed hubbub, prattle
and billboard nametags
am the one who smiles back
from the silence of a pew
deep in the forest
at whatever it was you were saying.
