Mistakes
“We must not be discouraged over our mistakes. Perfect Love
does not secure perfect Knowledge. We know only in part. So we are often
mistaken in our opinions and this leads to mistakes in conduct. We should do
better, if we knew better how and what to do. But we must have patience with
ourselves,—profit from our mistakes, and be more careful in the future. Because
we cannot do as well as we would we must not cease to do as well as we can.
Francis de Sales wrote to one of high spiritual aspirations:
‘Those who would tread safely must set themselves steadfastly to travel along
the road which is appointed for them, nor must they fix their minds on the end
of the journey, in such wise as to make them neglect to make a good beginning.’”
