Temporary satisfactions there are, but the one whom we desire soon overcomes every impression of some deeper entry into his divine mystery. With little to enjoy in knowledge, we are often left waiting in a silence whose end cannot be anticipated. We are invited then to a holy patience that accommodates us to our ignorance before God. Without this patient humility, there is no deeper adoration of the eternal God.”
