Absence

‘And Daddy, you know what?
I’m a bit lonely about you.’
From 3,000 miles away,
her voice so sweet and clear.
~Andrew Lansdown
I have four daughters and a son. This poem struck me along those lines (especially at times when I used to travel for my job). It also struck me from the standpoint of my Heavenly Father. There are days when it isn’t as easy to “set my mind on things that are above” and the “glory” that awaits (Col. 3:2-4). The things of eternity can seem greater than 3,000 miles away—the new heaven, the new earth, and eternity with our Heavenly Father. I need to take moments daily to let Him know that I look forward to that end and eternity with Him. Maybe it would touch Him in a slightly similar way this poem touched me? I am His child and He is my Father, after all...
